We provide a full suite of geochemistry analysis, including Total Organic Carbon, Rock-Eval pyrolysis, Vitrinite Reflectance, Kerogen Typing, Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography, Headspace Gas Analysis, Extraction of Soluble Organic Matter, Liquid Chromatographic Separation, Gasoline Range, Gas Chromatography whole oil/extract and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).
SOURCE ROCK EVALUATION
Objectives
Determine the richness, type (oil or gas) and thermal maturity of sedimentary organic matter in rock samples to evaluate as a potential source of petroleum hydrocarbons and CBM producibility
Samples
Shales, carbonates, and coals from outcrop and well samples. Well samples may be cuttings, sidewall cores or conventional cores.

CRUDE OIL AND OIL SEEP CHARACTERISATION
Objectives
- Determination of Composition of Natural Gases: Hydrocarbon and Non-hydrocarbon
- Determine oil quality
- Identify source rock type, level of thermal maturity, and nature of any alteration processes
- Make oil-oil, oil-condensate, and oil-seep correlations
- Define reservoir continuity
- Make oil-source rock correlations
Samples
- Subsurface crude oils and condensates
- Surface oils, condensates, and seeps
- Oil impregnated reservoir rock in subsurface and in outcrops
Analyses
- API Gravity
- Sulfur content
- Whole Oil Gas Chromatography
- Liquid Chromatographic Separation
- GC-MS of Saturate and Aromatic hydrocarbon fractions
- Carbon Isotope of Saturate and Aromatic hydrocarbon fractions
Interpretation and Report
Provides an assessment of the source organic matter type and maturity at generation, depositional environment, evaluation of any alteration processes, and possibly geologic age. If multiple oils are evaluated, oil-oil correlation and reservoir continuity can be assessed.
GAS EVALUATION
Objectives
- Determination of Composition of Natural Gases: Hydrocarbon and Non-hydrocarbon
- Origin of Hydrocarbon Gases: Biogenic, Thermogenic or Mixed
- Organic Source Type and Thermal Maturity of Hydrocarbon Gases
- Origin of Non-hydrocarbon Gases, if present in sufficient quantities
Analyses
- Hydrocarbon Gas Analysis (C1-C5+)
- Non-hydrocarbon Gas Analysis (CO2, N2)
- Stable Gas Carbon Isotope ratios on C1, C2, C3, C4
- Stable Hydrogen Isotope ratio on C1
